Description: Understand causes and problems associated with RCF damage at welds and determine options for addressing it.
Status: PhD has commenced at Monash University. Are seeking material for the experimental program, ideally FBW in different rail steels. Otherwise any data/information on weld performance data under service conditions (observations of extent of any HAZ damage and variations with rail grade/welding conditions). For this would also need service condition data (axle loads, track alignment/grades).
